OUR STORY

  • PAST

Masuo Onishi first opened Tsurumen in Osaka, Japan back in 2005. The town was called Tsurumi which means crane in Japanese. Men means noodles in Japanese. Logically, the name Tsurumen was born. He came to Boston in 2015 to visit friends and fell in love with the city. Not long after, he decided to stay to open a Tsurumen in the heart of Davis Square in Somerville, MA. The goal of Tsurumen Davis was to enjoy the moment and create the best ramen within 1,000 operating days. That goal was achieved on June 19th, 2022. Therefore, the name Tsurumen Davis was retired for the next iteration of Tsurumen.

  • PRESENT

Keeping the same philosophy of Love & Curiosity, Chef Onishi created Tsurumen 1000 and plans to establish other Tsurumen stores in the near future. While he continues on this new journey of growth, his team of talented chefs will ensure the quality that Tsurumen has crafted throughout the years.

  • FUTURE

To become the number one ramen brand in the US and then the world.
